In need of a painting fix

Recently i was given a bunch of flowers from a family friend for having my work in a local exhibition. They were bright orange and looked amazing amongst the red/white theme in mine and lachlans room
(oh yeah i moved in :D).
We got a new set of sheets which are navy blue because they were cheap and i though ew clash..but they actually looked good.
This is one of the newest paintings featured at work. I liked the colour pallete and it would look great in the room except i want something original / done by myself.

Im thinking of doing a large canvas painting with an aztec style.

Ive never done anything like this so it will be a challenge. any ideas on artist models?
I tend to get drawn to work like this, maybe ill change my mind. Im good at that :)

Advertisement and the death of individuality

After completeing my essay on the semiotics of an advertisement, i felt so negative about how the media rules us as human beings. It can literally change our opinions and personalities through excessiveness and compulsiveness.
Advertising sells more than just products, it sells cultural representations and values in relation to success and sexuality.
Did you know that aparently 95% of the content in womens magazines are advertisements?
I spose its easy to agree when you think about it. Whats the point in buying one what a waste of money!

I know im definetely prone to media brainwash, we have to be to kinda function in society since were all sheep and follow eachother. The deal is, were inclined to fear the idea that we will not be enviable so we constantly try and look for ways to be glamourous. The newest fashion, newest scent, amazing car etc.

Were also pretty much brainwashed to think that only celebs are the cool ones theyve been named glamourous and what they wear and do HAS to be cool. In my opinion theyre just the same if not sporting less interesting personalities. when was the last time you saw Britney Spears do something inspiring rather than chaotic, and why do i care that Jessica Simpson has gained ten pounds?

I find bloggers are much more interesting people. People with opinions and individual ideas and creations.

I couldnt take my eyes off this video

A friends blog featured this recently and i just could not take my eyes off it.
I thought it was cool does that make me a perve? lol
check out his blog hes also a graphic designer and collaborates with a friend who studies fashion design. awesome mathisdead.blogspot.com

Fight Do Un-Co

Last night i hit the gym for what i thought was going to be Step class...but was changed to Fight Do class.
I stayed anyway.

Jesus. I dont know why i thought that id be good at it, I always suck so bad at anything to do with punching and kicking and then there was also the added co-ordination necessary....

So here i am in the midst of a class, my first time and OF COURSE everyone else knows the routine inside and out! haha seriously. I looked terrible! and as soon as I thought I had the routine sussed..it changed!

I literally laughed out loud the whole way through.

Tonight is Kickboxing.

And i put my name down for it ><

The worst feeling in the world times ten trillion billion

When you think the worst feeling in the world you think its gotta be some kinda guilt or physical pain.
This is on a whole other level of physical or mental stress.

I had my group assignment due last weds at 10 so as a precaution we decided to all be there by 8. So im fluffin' round getting ready and when i decide to leave i realize ill probably end up being a few minutes late as the train ride in is around 45-60 mins no biggy.

I had to go back home TWICE! Forgot my USB (sooo important had some indesign files and the rationale we needed) and my phone (definetely needed :p). So that was cool definetly late now so i rushed to the train station.

Considering the fact that id had 2 green teas, water with psyllium husk and a glass of water earlier that morning i was sitting on the bench, train approaching, I suspected i may need to go to the loo.

SHIT. I was in no-go land anyhow. no toilets in sight so i assessed the situation and reluctantly jumped on a carriage.

At first it was fine. 1o minutes later it was not.

Desperation kicked in about halfway. 45-60 MINUTES the length is ridiculous and id also noticed id jumped on the long train at peak hour so there was someone sitting next to me as i tried hard not to wriggle around.

It consumes your thoughts. Ive had people tell me before in situations like this "just dont think about it" but i couldnt help it. I thought about the time a friend wet through her dress on the train seat ON THE WAY to town, I saw water gushing, every stop seemed like a point of escape; but if i did id have to wait 30min for the next one!     Not an option.

So i waited. I sat and i waited and i looked at fellow passengers in deep desperation.

60mins goes by so slowly but i eventually made it jetting up the stairs past casual walkers.

Turns out my lecturer emailed and said she was sick so the hand in was post-poned. -______-

Dayyuumm thats a sexual package.

Heres the mock-up for our group package design project.
We got given Lancome False nails.
Theres some work to be done on the dye-cut and also the cardboard creasing but im pretty happy with it :)

Womens worth. From a dude?

"A WOMENS WORTH IS MORE THAN WHAT YOU THINK, SO THINK AGAIN!!"

A guy i know recently posted this as his facebook status.
It bothered me.

By stating this, hes saying that women in fact are considered less worthy, in some cases yeah (women earn 60c to the dollar men make in the U.S), actually in alot of cases. But i reckon that the only way we can get past this sexism is through adressing it as "equality in general as an issue" rather than singleing out a sex.

I just dont think whining women would get their views across as well as the burning bra days, and even then things still arent right.

Shit to do

Last night i went to bed at 9 feeling shit. Headache, coughing and sore throat. I woke up at 3am and i seriously thought i had meningococal, i had all the symptoms i knew apart from a rash. So this morning i was feeling sorry for myself and dizzy as hell, i snapped out of it because im busting to go to the gym and do legs. (lol talk about turn around i had even txt'd my old neighbour whos a nurse in despiration.)

I have quite a bit of work to do in these two weeks.

Writing this lame 2000 word essay on the semiotics of a Dove advertisement.
I have a group package design due wednesday so i have to write the rationale for that.
Im making a 3 min video clip based on my perception of Auckland
A photgraphy pitch presentation i have to put together.

This song makes me feel like im at a party in the 70s dropping acid

STILL waiting to dye my hair

I reaaallyy want a change but i just havnt done it yet because im sacred of going orange since my hair at the moment is dark...Im hoping a hairdresser friend will discount me, that would be groovy.
Ive gone "middle part" and i really like it cant wait for the fringe to grow out properly.. so its a progressive process.

Lachlan saw this pic and said her face looked gross.
I thought she looked great, a lil gaunt but great??
But then i was thinking jeez loiuse we have such a different perspective about what is hot to guys.
oh welll that headband looks fantasticly festive and the hair fade rules.

Anna Nguyen

A friend asked me to draw her so this is a 2 min sketch.
She loves justin beiber and is a hairdresser

Erin Wasson- Inspiration for my photography pitch perhaps

Jewellery Box

I just visited my stepmum and she told me this story for a chuckle.

So she went to the house where my nanas belongins were and my uncle suggested that she look through this jewellery box that was sitting on her dutress to see if she wanted anything.

She thought oh cool might find something nice in there as a keep-sake.
As she was looking through she came across a costume neckless that she thought oh this is kinda nice (nana ddnt have great taste, she was commonly found wearing a cap she got free, some form of bowls polo and mens shorts). Thats when my uncle chimed in "oh, actually i think ill give that one to kiri" (his wife)...

So my step mum thought uh ok and picked out a brooch that she kinda liked. Uncle chimes in again "oh um that one there i thought would look good on nana". So she finally picked out a couple pairs of earrings she found thinking she probably wouldnt wear em, but it was just the thought.

The next day she gets a phone call.

"Oh hi Lisa, um actually were going to need those earrings back"

Turns out the jewellery box hadnt even belonged to my nana...It belonged to the lady who was boarding at the house haha! My uncle took off with most of it up north and the other stuff is scattered around.

Come to think of it, nana never wore jewellery, nor even had her ears pierced!
